Daniil Medvedev achieved his first Grand Slam final with a stressed US Open semi-final victory.
Russian fifth seed Medvedev, 23, edged the important things to win 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 6-3 on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The pair in Flushing Meadows ranked 78th on the planet, disappeared in the third from the opening two places until Dimitrov.
Medvedev will confront second seed Rafael Nadal or Italian seed Matteo Berrettini at Sunday’s final.
Heavy favourite Nadal, 33, requires also a Grand Slam semi-finalist, on Berrettini as he chases a title.
